Iron Embrace

Iron Embrace and Maybe Redemption explore addiction recovery in the DTES, bridging material transformation with lived experience through discarded materials.

“A key concept I wanted to evoke was movement, inviting viewers to actively engage with the work by positioning the iron piece atop the silhouetted figure—symbolizing the burdens of displacement. I led an artist workshop to demonstrate this interactive element, encouraging participants to explore resonance and dissonance within the configurations. By steering away from prescriptive explanations, I continue to develop a dialogic space that fosters reflection and storytelling with audiences.”

The works debuted at Outsiders and Others Gallery as part of The Many Faces of Time exhibition and were retained for showcase in the next exhibition.
